Program for women entrepreneurs to capitalize on new trend among talk listeners

March 11, 2009 – ATLANTA — Clear Channel, the largest owner of radio stations in the U.S., and Ms. CEO Media Inc. today announced that starting March 21, “The Ms. CEO Show with Felicia Joy” will air live on Saturdays at 11AM on 640 WGST in Atlanta. The Ms. CEO Show, a one-hour live talk radio show geared toward women entrepreneurs was created by host Felicia Joy, an Atlanta-based entrepreneur.

Felicia’s radio program, launched online in December 2008, is just in time to capitalize on three key trends: First, business owners and downsized workers-turned-entrepreneurs are looking for ideas and information to help them stay afloat or launch a business during tough economic times. Second, while talk radio has long been dominated by political programming geared toward male audiences making Rush Limbaugh the top paid radio show host in the country, more women are now tuning in to talk radio with a desire for programming that addresses their perspectives, issues and lifestyles. Third, the Center for Women’s Business Research and the U.S. Small Business Administration confirm that women entrepreneurs are starting businesses at twice the rate of men.

Recognizing this shift in the talk radio landscape and the demand for business information, Clear Channel’s 640 WGST, which already carries other business-oriented programming such as the Wall Street Journal Report has tapped The Ms. CEO Show for their weekend lineup. “Felicia’s advice for entrepreneurs is presented with a substance and style that reflects 640 WGST’s standards. Listeners will learn a lot from Felicia and her guests about building their businesses. I think even men are going to like listening,” says WGST Program Director Scott Lindy.

Felicia Joy says she is excited about the partnership because it will help her reach more women entrepreneurs. “640 WGST’s huge local reach is an amazing opportunity to connect with women entrepreneurs. When you’re in business for yourself, one bit of insight and inspiration can be the difference between staying in business or going under. We look forward to being the answer or motivation that somebody needs every single week,” Joy said. “People don’t think taxes, marketing, sales and all those business topics can be interesting and fun – well that’s because they haven’t heard ‘The Ms. CEO Show’! LET’S ROCK AND ROLL!

The last three months have been like a whirl wind.  In December 2008 we launched “The Ms. CEO Show with Felicia Joy” as an Internet broadcast; and today, just three months later, we are airing live on one of Clear Channel’s major talk radio stations in Atlanta, which is a top 10 media market!

Who would have thunk it?

People keep asking me how I got here.  Two ways.  First, God.  Second, ACTION.  To borrow a phrase from a very successful businessman whom I admire very much (Robert V. Michael) I am an “actionaire”.  Everyday, I get up and take action. Some days I sprint.  Some days I jog.  Some days I crawl.  Some days I strut.  Some days I creep.  Some days I limp.  But everyday I take action to move closer to achieving my business dreams and goals.  

I am inspired by the sheer brilliance, creativity and strength of every woman entrepreneur I meet.  I met a ton of them Thursday night (3/19/09) at Skirt! Magazine’s Ms. Biz event at The Ellis hotel, downtown Atlanta.  It was an electrifying occassion, buzzing with the special energy, fortitude and charisma that only women entrepreneurs can bring to an environment.  Inspired by the vision of seeing millions of people—most especially women—reach their entrepreneurial goals, I’m an actionaire — one who gets up and takes action every single day.

You know how it always seems like time is flying by?  Well, our business growth will fly right along with it as long as we get up everyday and take action to achieve that day’s agenda.

So, I declare today—based on the outpour of thanks we are receiving for launching this show—that The Ms. CEO Show is the radio show to listen to for ideas, insight and information on how to take ACTION to transform your life, transform your business and transform your (and your family’s) economic destiny!  There are umpteen shows that advise you on what to do with your money and how to manage it; and thank God for those shows and the people who created them but I know lots of folks need more money — need economic deliverance — especially right now; and successful business ownership is the way to get there so let’s rock and roll together!  You and me, every week…listening together, learning together and going for the gold!

Clear Channel's 640 WGST Logo

The Ms. CEO Show with Felicia Joy has just been signed to 640 WGST, Clear Channel’s talk radio station in Atlanta.   Starting March 21st, the show will begin airing live on Saturdays at 11am, following The Dave Ramsey Show, on 640 AM. 

Talk radio has traditionally been dominated by male political talk hosts and listeners, so this is a history making move that speaks to the power of women and our leadership in business.  Make history with us on Saturday, March 21st at 11am by tuning into the show and having friends over for a “The Ms. CEO Show” listening party—let’s create the biggest show debut the station has ever seen!
